MTA's USTA Junior Team Tennis League
USTA Junior Team Tennis - deadline extended to 5/17 and days changed to Mon./Thurs.
Level: All levels of play -- beginner to advanced
Cost: $25 registration through the USTA
Dates: Beginning May 18th, 6 - 8 week session
Clinic Days:
Mondays (a change)and Thursdays
USTA Membership required
Teams: minimum 3 - 4 boys and 3 - 4 girls
Format: combination of
singles, doubles, mixed doubles

Each team will need a parent
captain and/or manager. The duties
will include light administrative work and communicating with the team about
matches and practices. MTA will
hold a parent captain/manager meeting on May 18th to
inform all parents on how to successfully manage their teams.
Age requirements:
August 31, 2010 is the cut-off date for age requirements to play in a certain division. For example, to play in the 14 & under division you must be 14 through August 31, 2010. If your birthday is August 11th and you will turn 15 then you will have to play in the 18 & under division. The 12-18 age divisions can qualify to go to the Tennessee State Tournament in Chattanooga from July 30-August 1 (this is optional).

18 & under: advanced (ranking in the top
300 of USTA Southerns)
18 & under: beginner & intermediate
14 &
under: advanced (ranking in the top 300 of USTA Southerns)
14 & under: beginner & intermediate
12 &
under: advanced (ranking in the top 300 of USTA Southerns)
12 & under: beginner & intermediate
The MTA will assemble the teams based on the commitment forms received by May 11th. A schedule of matches will be coordinated through MTA and will be scheduled starting the week of May 18th. If there is a conflict in scheduling due to vacations, the team captains can agree on a different date to complete the match.

JUNIOR CLINIC INFORMATION
MTA Junior Team Clinics
MTA will offer clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning May 18th for all players and teams. More information coming soon, or call Julie Wishing at 615-293-6543 or email her at ajwishing@comcast.net.
Quick Start Clinics
The clinics will be divided into QuickStart groups for ages 5 -10 and Tournament
groups for ages 11-18. The USTA is promoting QuickStart as the best and most fun
way for kids to learn the game of tennis. What better way to learn than the way
Roger Federer and Justine Henin got their start on the courts?
Below is a printable schedule and sign-up sheet. Note that the first session
begins next week on April 5th and runs through April 28th. The second session
begins on May 3rd and runs through May 26th. If you are interested, please email
